Day 8 Computation Humor and Rest

Another beautiful day. Seas are a little rougher than they have been for the past couple of days, but still very enjoyable. We are passing down the east slope of the Mid Atlantic ridge. Between 9:00 am and 10:00 am this morning, the water depth increased from 13,000 feet to 14,000 feet. This evening, it is running around 15,000 feet. There are a few dots of land 200-300 miles to our northeast. Not a lot on the schedule for today other than checking out the Computational Humor presentation by the IT professor who gave the presentation a few days ago on the plate tectonics.

We had room service bring us our breakfast this morning before we went to the presentation. The seminar was interesting. It was this lady's thesis work for her master's degree in IT. She attempted (with some success) to write a computer algorithm to simulate human humor. Why? Why not? She graduated didn't she?

The bulk of our afternoon was spent on the veranda. I slept out there from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. This evening we went to The Restaurant for dinner. Terri was taken by one of their wines.

Tonight we move the clocks ahead another hour. We are roughly 2,700 miles east of Ft. Lauderdale with another 900 miles to Funchal (Madeira). We will be docking on Tuesday. This is the only port we will be stopping at before reaching Barcelona.
