Day 0 Houston to Fort Lauderdale

This evening we are in our hotel in Fort Lauderdale enjoying a pizza in our room. It is very relaxing after a long day. It started early after a sleepless night. Not only was there great expectation regarding our trip, but this is also the day that our daughter's family moves into their new house. We made a couple of trips over to the new house this morning before heading to the airport. On the second trip, we introduced Spenser (dog) and Pip (canary) to their home-away-from-home for the next month. The movers showed up as we were being driven to the airport. Their new house is neat with a pool and spa. Reportedly, this evening, the grand kids are enjoying the spa.

Getting to the boarding gate at Hobby went well, at least for me. My Global Entry credentials got me through the security checks without having to disrobe or even taking my computer out of the case. T's did not go so well. For some reason, they did not have her Global Entry credentials in their system, so she had to go back through the normal screening. It was not a long wait however and we had time for a Bloody Mary at Pappadeaux's before heading to the gate. I will need to figure out what happened with T's credentials.

As for the flight, thankfully, nothing much of interest occurred. This Southwest flight had apparently only a couple of empty seats, one of which, ended up between us. I guess nobody wanted to sit next to me. We touched down in Fort Lauderdale fifteen minutes early and finally arrived at the gate 5 minutes late. Fort Lauderdale is...well, Fort Lauderdale; sunny, warm, humid. We caught the shuttle from the airport to the hotel and decided to order in a pizza instead of going back out. We got a call from our driver (Janet) who said she would be picking us up at the hotel to take us to the port at noon tomorrow.

Tonight, we are getting all our paperwork together and putting our tags on the luggage. Big day tomorrow.
