They wanted us out of the room by 0800 and were supposed to be off the ship to meet our tour by 0815. There was a slight delay and a bit of confusion about who would need to go through immigration. It turned out all we had to do was show our passports and collect our baggage.
We found our tour bus and departed for the city. T was a little concerned by the name of our tour bus.

We visited the Sagrada Familia (Sacred Family) Cathedral. Started 130+ years ago, they hope to have it completed in the next 20 years or so. You can see how the initial construction was made of sandstone and has weathered poorly. The newer parts (as on the left) are being made of limestone. We did not get to go into the church since it was Sunday.

They had some kind of marathon going on today and the center city was closed to traffic. We only had to walk a few blocks and I got to photo the start of the race.
We visited a couple of other churches and then went on to the Spanish Village built for the 1929 World Exposition.

We were given about an hour to wonder around the Spanish Square where they were having a beer festival today.

We waited only about 10 minutes before a taxis arrived. It took about 15 minutes and 15 Euros to get us to the hotel.
Tonight we are in the Hilton Barcelona. We are tired. We need to have our luggage outside the door by 0800 Monday morning, but our shuttle to the port does not arrive until 1215 hours.
We did not have a chance to see the Gothic Quarter of the city, but it sounds like it would appear to us. We definitely need to come back and spend some time in Barcelona.
Love the architecture!
